E-LETTER NO: 241 – 30th MARCH 2017

Governments have to give due consideration to financial planning (the recent budget is an example), we have to plan our own family and personal considerations - and churches are no different in this respect.

Most of our East Midlands churches should have completed the accounts for 2016 (and sent these to the office) and will be using the information to advise and inform future income and expenditure planning. This will include preparation for making the 2018 offer to the Ministry and Mission Fund (M&M), and always remembering that the first call on a church’s income is the support of this fund as it provides the significant part of the financial resources in running the URC - in particular paying the stipends of our ministers. Details are in the course of preparation and will be sent to church treasurers, secretaries and ministers over the next few weeks.

It has been pleasing to be able to report to Synod and F&P that the contributions made to the M&M Fund in 2016 from the East Midlands churches exceeded (just!) the offers made - our grateful thanks to everyone for the continued generous support.

David J Greatorex - Treasurer

Please note that Hannah Bones, at the Synod Office who is P.A. to the Training and Development Officer and Children and Youth Development Officer, got married on 25th March and is now Hannah Holmes. For any Training or Youth and Children’s related queries, please now ask to speak to Hannah Holmes, not to be confused with Hannah Willey, the Moderators Personal Assistant. Hannah and Danny would like to thank everyone who contributed to the generous gift from those throughout the Synod and for all the good wishes which they received.
