Safeguarding

Every Church is asked:

  • To appoint a link person for safeguarding
  • Have a policy for safeguarding
  • Ensure that all those working with children, young people and adults at risk are interviewed, know their role, are supported and have a DBS check (where required)
  • To use safer recruitment for all volunteers

If we are to care for the children, young people and adults we have, or hope to have, on our church premises, then all we do for their safety and well being helps us exercise that care.

Synod Safeguarding Officer, Jane, is able to assist in any matter concerning safeguarding children and young people and in the implementation of Good Practice.

Training is available and should be done by all who volunteer in our churches including Elders every 3 years

The Good Practice 4 handbook and appendices are available to download here

These resources include a sample Safeguarding Policy for churches.
